Student & Family Resources
Whether you’re new to our school or a longtime Gibbs Middle School family, we want to provide the resources you need to achieve success.
This is a central hub for students and families to easily access information for navigating the school and school day, including enrollment, student handbooks, information about schedules, extra curricular activities, and more!

Enrollment
Gibbs Middle School serves students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
Students who are zoned for Gibbs Middle School and attended a Knox County elementary school for 5th grade are automatically enrolled.
Enrollment hours for students who are new to the district are from 8:00 a.m. until 2 p.m. on full school days and during specified office hours in the summer months. Enrollment must be completed in person by a parent or legal guardian.

Daily Schedule
Gibbs Middle's standard school day begins with homeroom at 8:10 a.m., but students may begin arriving on campus as early as 7:30 a.m. Students may not be dropped off before 7:30 am.
Upon arrival, students should report to the cafeteria for breakfast or to the gymnasium. At 8:10 a.m., they are dismissed to their classrooms.
Early dismissal ends at 3:00pm to help with traffic on the school driveway. Regular dismissal begins at 3:30 p.m.
Students must be at school for 3.5 hours to be counted present for the day.

Athletics, Arts, and Clubs
Gibbs Middle offers a variety of after-school and extracurricular activities—including athletics, clubs, and performing arts—that give students the chance to build new skills, connect with peers, and explore personal interests.
Different from high school, middle school athletics includes both school-sponsored teams and community-based programs.

Support Organization
The Gibbs Middle PTO is in a rebuilding year. If you'd like information on how to help, or make a donation to our school, please reach out to our main office at 865-687-1712.
