Meet  Dr. Candace Greer

Dr. Candace Greer serves as the Executive Principal of Gibbs Middle School, bringing over 20 years of experience in education and a steadfast commitment to student achievement, instructional excellence, and community partnership.

Dr.. Greer began her career in 2005 as an English teacher at West High School. In 2012, she transitioned into instructional leadership as a coach at Vine Middle Magnet. Her journey into school administration began in 2015 as an assistant principal at Gresham Middle School. She then served as the curriculum principal at Farragut High School from 2016 to 2019, followed by her role as assistant principal at Bearden High School from 2019 to 2021. Since 2021, she has led Gibbs Middle School as its executive principal, where she continues to foster a culture of academic rigor, equity, and innovation.

Dr. Greer holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, a Master’s in Secondary Education, and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership—all from The University of Tennessee. She earned her doctorate in education from the University of the Cumberlands.

Meet Brandon Vickers

Mr. Brandon Vickers is a seasoned educator and school leader with nearly two decades of experience in various educational roles. He began his career in education in 2008 as a teacher at Cedar Bluff and Belle Morris Elementary, where he taught until 2015. Next he taught high school math at Career Magnet Academy for four years and then joined the administration team, as a Dean of Students, for the following three years.   In 2022, he became an Assistant Principal at Gibbs Middle School where he is continuing to foster a supportive learning environment and promoting educational success for every student.

Mr. Vickers holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, minor in Geography from the University of Tennessee.  He also has earned a master’s degree in Curriculum and Education and an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision, both from Lincoln Memorial University.

Meet Scott Reed

Mr. Reed has been in education for more than twenty years. He began his career as a Special Education teacher at Richard Yoakley Alternative School, where he taught middle school curriculum for 10 years. His next move was to a district wide Lead Teacher position where he traveled to “TEAM” schools at every grade level providing guidance, support, and professional development on the TEAM evaluation model to administrators and Lead teachers at each level K-12. The next year he had an opportunity to participate in Leadership Academy with Cohort 4, which lead to his first official placement as an admin at Gibbs High School. Since becoming an administrator, he has served at Gibbs High School, briefly at South Doyle High School, Carter High School, and currently at Gibbs Middle School. After contributing to the opening of Gibbs Middle School, he has remained there and is currently in his 8th year of tenure, supporting the learning and growth of numerous Gibbs Middle students during that time.

Mr. Reed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from East Tennessee State University, as well as Master’s and Educational Specialist Degrees from the University of Tennessee in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.

Meet Jeremy Swift

Coach Jeremy Swift has been part of the Gibbs community for many years, and in 2024 he stepped into his newest role as Gibbs Middle School’s Health and P.E. teacher and Athletic Director. A familiar face around the track and on the sidelines, Coach Swift brings a heart for students and a love of athletics to everything he does.

A graduate of East Tennessee State University in 2008, Coach Swift earned his degree in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Athletic Coaching. Not long after, he began working with students at Fulton High School as a teacher’s assistant, before serving as the K–8 Athletic Director and Recreation Specialist at the Tennessee School for the Deaf. He went on to teach at Karns High School and later joined the Gibbs High School staff, where he spent a decade as a special education teacher.

Over the years, Coach Swift has coached a variety of sports—including basketball, cross country, and track—and he is especially passionate about helping young athletes reach their full potential. Whether in the classroom, on the court, or at the finish line, his focus has always been on encouraging students to work hard, support one another, and believe in themselves.

Now at Gibbs Middle, Coach Swift is excited to continue building a strong athletic program while also helping students grow in confidence, health, and character. More than anything, he hopes his students know he is always in their corner, cheering them on in sports and in life.
